“The jack-o-lantern follows me
with tapered, glowing eyes.
His yellow teeth grin evily.
His cackle I despise.
But I shall have the final laugh
when Halloween is through.
This pumpkin king I’ll split in half
to make a pie or two.”

I love your jack-o-lantern! It's Monday morning and Patti has yet to open her challenge. Like you, I'm left with an entry and no place to post it!
I enjoy to read the girl's thoughts. She looks adorable. Original take on the theme. Love 🎃
I think this pieces is outstanding, Deann. You are a master of the first, second and third focal point, and my eye keeps running around from the large, illuminated pumpkin to the sweet little face, to the background pumpkin and that oh-so-delicious background. Wowza! Oh, and the pies in the poem made me grin, of course.
